In January of my junior year of college, I decided to try out for a position as a graphic designer on the staff of Penn State's student-run campus newspaper, The Daily Collegian. After being taken on as a candidate and learning the ropes of most of the jobs on visual staff - page design, magazine cover/feature design and graphic design - I was offered a place for the 2010-2011 school year. For my senior year I specialized as a graphic artist and created infographics, graphs and diagrams, as well as "bugs" to identify certain series or columns, skyboxes for the front page, the occasional web graphic, and designed covers and feature pages for the various weekly magazines.
